New Artist! Alejandra Peñaloza
Alejandra Peñaloza
We are welcoming our NEW artist Alejandra Peñaloza
Alejandra is a Mexican illustrator inspired by the magic of nature, the charm of everyday life, and the quiet beauty of small moments. Her work blends realism with a subtle touch of surrealism, brought to life through rich, colourful compositions. Approaching each project with curiousity, Alejandra creates illustrations that feel authentic, expressive, and full of life - whether capturing a moment from nature or an imagined scene.
“The first thing that attracted me to work with Jehane was her uniquely holistic approach to the illustration industry. Encouraging artists to discover what truly inspires them and create from that place, provides a strong foundation for building a sustainable, long-term practice.”

It’s an absolute pleasure to welcome Alejandra to the family!
Tell us about yourself, what is your process?
“My creative process starts with observation, research, and loose sketches that develop into detailed work. I love experimenting with colour and stay open to change, allowing each piece to evolve naturally - even if that means starting over.”
– Alejandra Peñaloza
Previous clients include Science Magazine, Breathe, Anthropologie and GMC Books demonstrating her versatility and international appeal.
What made you want to become an artist?
“I can’t remember a time when I didn’t draw - creating has always been a part of who I am. But it was Brett Helquist’s illustrations in A Series of Unfortunate Events that made me realise that illustration was truly what I wanted to pursue. The journey wasn’t straightforward. Family concerns led me to study Graphic Design instead of illustration at university, and later life choices guided me into several years working as a 3D artist. Rather than steering me away, those experiences only strengthened my conviction be an illustrator.”

✨ Longlisted for the World Illustration Awards ✨
Alejandra’s illustration (shown below) for Science Magazine was longlisted for the prestigious World Illustration Awardsin 2025, a testament to her skill and distinctive artistic voice.
Do you have a favourite process?
“Taking time to observe and reflect on my surroundings, then capture them through photos for reference or, if time allows, quick sketches. Explore the ideas that emerge and create something that conveys the atmosphere of that place or moment.”
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
“You already have a ‘no’; only by asking do you give yourself the chance for a ‘yes.’ This piece of advice has given me courage to go after the things I want, no matter how crazy they seem, and I’ve gotten a few great ‘yeses’ along the way.”
