“The Map of the Ancient Realm of Wales features historic and prehistoric sites, natural landscapes and figures from Welsh mythology and folklore. If you look closely, you might spot Arawn, the slumbering dragon at Dinas Emrys and Gelert the hound. I took inspiration from golden age illustration for the decorative elements and typography, and chose a limited colour palette that can be adjusted depending on the map’s context. I chose to use Welsh language names wherever possible!” - Anna Stead

“The Map of Skye shows wildlife, landscape, historic and prehistoric sites as well as local legends. You can see the Cailleach nestled between the two peaks that share her name, and even a Blue Man of the Minch! I chose to use Gaelic names wherever possible, and used a limited colour palette that can be changed around. I used golden age illustration and typography as inspiration. I would love to illustrate the Hebridean Islands to go with Skye (the initial plan to do Scotland as a whole was too crowded with the tiny islands) and also Ireland, Cornwall and Wiltshire/Somerset”. - Anna Stead
