Praise from the client…

“I first fell in love with Alejandra’s original artwork when I came across her London illustrations. With a few tweaks, it became our London Blue tin, which went on to inspire the entire Landmarks collection. While we had a clear vision for the themes we wanted to feature, it was Alejandra’s creativity that truly brought each design to life.

“Working closely with her throughout the project was an absolute pleasure. Her professionalism, dedication and imagination made the entire creative process both inspiring and stress-free, and the finished collection exceeded our expectations.”

What made you want to become an artist?

Alejandra: “I can’t remember a time when I didn’t draw, creating has always been a part of who I am. But it was Brett Helquist’s illustrations in A Series of Unfortunate Events that made me realise that illustration was truly what I wanted to pursue, especially with the encouragement of my high school art teacher. The journey wasn’t straightforward, though. Family concerns led me to study Graphic Design instead of Illustration at university, and life choices guided me into several years working as a 3D artist. Yet, rather than steering me away, these experiences only strengthened my conviction be an illustrator.”

How did you find your style?

Alejandra: “Trial and error. Embracing the ‘flaws’ and learning to take advantage of them helped me feel comfortable with my process. Finding a medium that comfortably helped me create the worlds in my head gave me confidence. And still, when I feel like there is something missing, I will experiment and find tools that help enrich my style.”

Alejandra Peñaloza is inspired by the magic of nature, the charm of everyday life, and the quiet beauty of small moments. Alejandra’s work blends realism with a hint of surrealism in rich and colourful compositions.
