CHLOE GIORDANO

Chloe Giordano is a leading UK illustrator whose work is inspired by the natural world. Her highly skilled embroidery technique has developed over many years - a process she fondly refers to as free hand needle painting.

Chloe approaches her pieces much like a traditional painting, constructing each artwork with thread. Based in North Yorkshire, her practice combines a strong foundation in drawing with a focus on realism, resulting in intricately detailed, lifelike embroideries.

She typically works on cotton or unbleached calico, using Gutermann sewing threads.

A deep connection to nature underpins Chloe’s work. She draws particular inspiration from her garden and her involvement in managing the wildlife in her local churchyard, often translating these insights into her pieces.

Chloe has illustrated several children’s books, as well as creating commissioned book covers and best-selling licensed ranges. Her clients include Penguin Random House, Quarto, Canongate Books,
Museums & Galleries, Fable England, Woodmansterne,
and Bloomsbury Publishing.

Q & A

Tell us about yourself, what makes you ‘tick’?

“I’m very driven by my love of nature, I try to share it in my work and spend my spare time trying to give it a helping hand.”

What made you want to become an artist?

“I loved creating art more than anything else, and unlike other hobbies, like reading, I loved the idea of making it a job, it doesn’t take any of the fun out of it for me and pushes me to be better.”

“I love the work Jehane’s artists are producing, I think the proof is in the pudding so I know the guiding force behind them is doing the right thing!”
