MANDY J TAIT
Mandy J Tait is a UK-based printmaker and illustrator originally from the Shetland Islands of Scotland, now living in Aberdeenshire - a place she describes as her haven.
Naturally curious and highly observant, Mandy studied Illustration at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design in Dundee. She later completed a Master of Arts in Forensic Art, an experience that sharpened her attention to detail and observation skills, both of which still continue to inform her drawing practice today.
Her distinctive visual style has evolved organically though hand-printing techniques including linocut, collagraph, and reduction printmaking. More recently, Mandy has embraced digital tools such as Procreate; using texture, layering and mark-making to retain the tactile quality and character of traditional print processes.
Rooted in printmaking, Mandy’s work is graphic, playful, and richly textured, often carrying a strong sense of narrative and atmosphere. Increasingly drawn to figurative subjects and the subtle interactions between people, her illustrations balance warmth, character, and craftsmanship with remarkable skill.
Clients include Museums & Galleries, Iron Press Publishing, Birlinn Books, East Neuk Knits, JaccArt, McLaggan Smith Mugs, Yarn Journal, and the National Museums of Scotland.

Q & A
What would be your dream project?
“For me, the dream is creating something that has enough life in it to grow into a whole collection. That in itself is incredibly exciting.”
Tell us about yourself, what makes you ‘tick’?
“Art makes me tick. Ive always been fascinated by the simple magic of creating something that wasn’t there before. An idea that starts in your head gradually becoming a real image. It sounds simple but it gets me every time.”
